Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Assistant Manager, Materials Management

At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we are committed to excellence in patient care and supporting the critical operations behind the scenes. Our Materials Management team plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless flow of supplies, equipment, and resources across the organization. As an Assistant Manager, Materials Management, you’ll help lead daily operations, staff, and process improvements to maintain efficiency and high-quality service delivery.

Role Overview:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of departmental responsibilities.
  • Supervise staff, delegate assignments, and support performance management, training, and development.
  • Partner with leadership to manage staffing schedules, time-off requests, and workload distribution.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and disciplinary processes to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Monitor special projects, identify challenges, and communicate updates or risks to leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operational continuity by addressing equipment issues and coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Ensure availability and proper management of supplies, equipment, and inventory to meet departmental needs.
  • Oversee environmental and safety compliance, including proper storage, handling, and transport of materials.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service, and staff engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and departmental data to support decision-making and compliance.
  • Collaborate across teams and participate in organizational initiatives and committees.

Key Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff.
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, supply chain processes, and inventory management.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting performance evaluations, training, and staff development initiatives.

Core Skills:

  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills with the ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage staff, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems to support reporting and operational tracking.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm
  • Location: Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion 160 E 53rd
  • Report to: Regional Manager, Materials Management
