Job Description - Assistant Manager of Facilities

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives.

Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing and education services. Rosie's Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.

OPPORTUNITY

Rosie's Place is looking for an Assistant Manager of Facilities to help lead our Facilities team. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Assistant Manager of Facilities ensures a safe and secure property by coordinating all aspects of the overall cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of the physical locations and assets of Rosie's Place. They will supervise a team of 4 Facilities Associates and are responsible for creating and overseeing the work schedule and task assignments to team members.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
With the support of the Director of Facilities, oversee, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
Create a daily staffing schedule, ensuring proper coverage of all facilities tasks.
Coordinate backup coverage with fill-in staff as needed and provide support and guidance to fill-in facilities staff.
Educate and train staff on proper safety procedures.
Orchestrate the daily cleaning as well as regularly deep cleaning of all Rosie's Place sites.
Manage and assign work orders for maintenance requests to be addressed quickly and efficiently.
Perform quality checks of physical plant and completed work by Facilities team.
Coordinate deliveries, including receiving, moving, storage and inventory of materials and supplies.
Maintain outdoor grounds to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Act as the Manager on Duty during the weekends, supporting staff from all departments as needed.
Support the Director of Facilities on creating program goals, quarterly reports, budget reports and other documentation.
Perform additional duties, repairs and maintenance as assigned by the Director of Facilities.

At least 2 years of experience managing or leading a team.

Ability to work as a team player, promoting good relations with co-workers and guests.
Excellent organizational and cleanliness skills.
Ability to work independently, problem-solve and prioritize responsibilities.
Experience supervising a diverse group of staff.
Professional cleaning and/or maintenance experience a plus.
Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin or Cantonese strongly preferred.
Valid Massachusetts driver's license and safe driving record required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and a willingness to learn new systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job duties are performed in a variety of settings, including office, commercial kitchen and outdoors. Day to day work includes lifting, stocking, and cleaning as well as interaction with staff, guests, and volunteers. Individuals must be physically able to safely lift 70 pounds, reach, bend, and stoop, as well as use cleaning products and equipment. This person may be called during off hours to address urgent building or staffing needs.

HOURS

This is a full-time (40 hours) exempt position, with the following regularly scheduled hours:
Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 5:30pm
Monday - Wednesday from 11:30am to 7:30pm

This position also requires availability for after-hours on-call responsibilities, ensuring prompt response and effective resolution to urgent matters as they arise outside standard working hours.

WHAT WE OFFER

The starting salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

In an effort to increase equity, and because we know that salary negotiations tend to have an unfair bias, we do not participate in salary negotiations outside of this stated starting salary range.

WORK EXPECTATIONS AT ROSIE'S PLACE

We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Assistant Manager of Facilities is expected to work onsite at Rosie's Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers.

We continue to adapt to safety protocols related to COVID-19 as we understand them, and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their COVID vaccinations. Requests for medical or religious exemptions from the COVID vaccination are considered.
