This position takes direction from the Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor and develops skills in some or all of the following areas: maintaining and repairing golf course machinery, including mowers, tractors, and other equipment. The assistant technician will handle maintenance tasks involving mechanical systems, inspections, and repairs to ensure that all equipment operates efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, conducting inspections to preemptively address issues, managing inventory of tools and parts, and keeping detailed records of all maintenance activities. The technician will also ensure compliance with safety regulations and collaborate with grounds staff to coordinate maintenance schedules, minimizing disruption to golf course operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on golf course equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Equipment Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify and address any issues before they become major problems.
• Inventory Management: Keep track of tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities for each piece of equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other grounds staff to schedule maintenance and repair activities to minimize disruption to golf course operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Experience: Previous experience working with machinery or in a maintenance role is often required.

Technical Training: Certification or training in small engine repair or a related field can be beneficial.

Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical tasks and work in various weather conditions.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.

Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and fix mechanical issues effectively.

Attention to Detail: Careful and thorough approach to maintenance and repairs.

Communication: Clear communication with team members about equipment status and needs.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

Language Skills:

The individual must have strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization.  

Availability: 

Regular business hours and after regular business hours, as necessary.
