Job Summary
Serves as the lead faculty member for the BBA in either Accounting, Management, or Marketing in the School of Business. Does so in accordance with the HPU mission statement, the School of Business purpose statement, the School of Business outcomes assessment plan, and other relevant documents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean, School of Business.
- Develops, instructs, and administers primarily accounting/marketing/management courses, with other courses within the School of Business included as appropriate, resulting in a typical teaching load of 24 credit hours over the academic year. This load will include both on ground and online courses and preferably both undergraduate and MBA courses
- Advises primarily marketing majors, with other business majors included as appropriate
- Holds a minimum of 7 scheduled office hours per week with additional hours arranged as needed
- Serves on HPU and/or School of Business committees as needed
- A commitment to understanding business from a distinctly biblical perspective and where appropriate teaching business from a distinctly biblical perspective is essential. This is consistent with the Howard Payne University mission statement (a Christ-centered community) and the School of Business purpose statement (preparing Christians for lives of service as business professionals)
- A commitment to intellectual curiosity, the life of the mind, and the joy of learning, evidenced by a program of ongoing professional development
- Works effectively with other HPU and School of Business personnel
- A commitment to understand the micro (a particular faculty position, major, department, school, etc.) from the perspective of the macro (Howard Payne University), and relatedly, to work optimally within institutional resource constraints

Qualifications

- Education and/or Experience - Doctoral degree or equivalent from an accredited University or more than 10 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents in English, ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style, ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to University students, trustees, other employees and the public
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory effectively, ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs of theorems effectively
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems in English, ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases, ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good working knowledge of Blackboard software, commonly used Internet browsers and Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word software. Also, the individual should have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD, LabVIEW and other appropriate engineering software
- Licenses - Must be at least 21 years old and maintain a current Texas driver's license to drive any vehicle, including personal vehicles, on behalf of the University when necessary
