JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT
POST TITLE & DURATION: Assistant Performance Analyst. 2 Year Fixed Term Contract.
ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION
To assist the Lead Performance Analyst in providing a world class performance analysis department to Munster Rugby.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Operational: Lead Performance Analyst
Functional: Head Coach & General Manager
KEY QUALITIES
Essential:
Excellent Knowledge of Rugby Union and its laws.
Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in high pressure scenarios and environments.
Innovative and committed to personal and professional development.
Expert knowledge of Hudl Sportscode & associated Hardware/Software used for Performance Analysis.
Excellent knowledge of Apple based software and hardware.
Desirable: (Qualification)
2-4 years of coaching/playing experience.
Good Understanding of Key Rugby analytics.
Experience in using data analysis software like MS Excel, R / Python / SQL etc
Experience in using Visualisation software like Tableau / Power BI
RESPONSIBILITIES
General areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Manage recording of Senior Team training sessions and assist in recording of A team and Academy Training sessions when required.
- Upkeep of IT and Filming equipment.
- Continuous maintenance and upkeep of Analysis Server & Analysis Room.
- When Required assist the Lead Performance Analyst on Match Day Performance Analysis Requirements to Munster Senior Team.
- Assist in post game statistical analysis for the Munster Senior Team
- Collate game footage of tournament opposition, Code/Compress/Upload to Hudl and coaches’ hard drives when required.
- Assist in coding of opposition and individual player footage to Munster Senior Team.
- Formulation of opposition statistical analysis and create trend reports of same.
- Track and monitor Player/Team Performance for mid-season reviews and end of season reviews
- Ensuring all data is backed up and secure.
- Assist Coaches to present at Team Meetings when required and provide support for all staff in this area.
- Production of creative content for Team usage at meetings including theming and Hudl Studio presentations.
- Assist in training and daily management of Trainee/Intern Analysts.
- The Assistant Performance Analyst is responsible for upholding and promoting a positive image of Munster Rugby and the IRFU in all interactions with the press and media.
- Maintain strict confidentiality across all interactions and dealings between Munster Team Management, the Senior Team, the IRFU and any other relevant stakeholders.
These functions and responsibilities may change from time to time depending on the needs of the team and Lead Performance Analyst
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- Carry out duties and responsibilities to a high standard and in line with the Munster Team programme and cultures.
- Establish efficient and effective work practices.
- Make effective and informed decisions in relation to the role of a Performance Analyst.
- Portray a competent and professional image of the Munster Rugby Performance Analysis Department on behalf of Munster Rugby.
- Full analytical and coding breakdown as designed by the Lead analyst to be completed within 24hrs of game and subsequent analysis projects to be completed on time as prescribed by Lead analyst.
- Provide accurate coding of game and training footage to players and staff of Munster Rugby.
- Produce accurate and informative Reports to Lead Analyst when required.
- Provide efficient technical and analytical support to players and staff of Munster Rugby
- Maintain full library of all analyzed material.
- Continual pursuit and showing of Initiative to Specialise and develop skills within the performance analysis field.
