Assistant Prep Manager

Huntington Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram Hyundai Genesis is seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Prep Manager to help oversee the daily preparation and readiness of our vehicle inventory. This role plays a critical part in ensuring vehicles are properly reconditioned, repaired, and delivered on time while maintaining strong communication between departments.

The Assistant Prep Manager will support the Prep Manager by leading team members, coordinating reconditioning processes, and holding staff accountable to dealership standards for quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Accountability

• Assist in leading the prep and reconditioning team to ensure daily operational goals are met


• Help manage workflow and hold team members accountable for performance and productivity


• Maintain a culture focused on efficiency, quality, and teamwork

Interdepartmental Communication

• Coordinate daily communication between Sales, Service, Parts, and Management


• Provide updates on vehicle readiness, repair status, and delivery timelines


• Ensure all departments remain aligned on inventory preparation priorities

Repairs to Damaged Inventory Vehicles

• Identify inventory vehicles requiring repair or reconditioning


• Coordinate with prep technicians and vendors to ensure repairs are completed efficiently


• Track repair progress and maintain accurate status updates

On-Time, Quality Deliveries

• Ensure all vehicles are fully prepared and meet dealership quality standards prior to delivery


• Monitor timelines to guarantee vehicles are ready when promised to customers or sales staff

Used & Wholesale Vehicle Readiness

• Oversee preparation of used vehicles for retail sale


• Coordinate the processing and readiness of vehicles designated for wholesale


• Ensure all required inspections and documentation are completed

Team Training

• Assist in training team members on dealership processes, standards, and expectations


• Support development of efficient work habits and operational consistency


• Reinforce proper procedures for inventory handling and vehicle preparation

Qualifications

• Previous automotive dealership experience preferred but not required


• Strong leadership and organizational skills


• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills


• Knowledge of vehicle reconditioning processes is a plus


• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
