Job Description - Assistant Restaurant Manager

Position Summary:  The Assistant Restaurant Manager oversees all front-of-house operations across the property’s dining outlets, including The Grill, Terraza Restaurant, the pool bar, in-room dining, and private dining experiences. This role focuses on creating memorable guest experiences by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations, and fostering meaningful relationships—all while upholding HDS service standards and optimizing profitability. The position requires a flexible schedule, with availability to work breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts, including holidays


 


Job Duties:



  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing proper attire and name tag when working

  • Maintain both Hacienda Del Sol and Forbes Travel Guide standards to encourage efficient restaurant operations

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor

  • Provide management presence in front of house areas, offering assistance to staff and opportunities for coaching

  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction with food and beverage services by interacting with guests and performing routine table visits

  • Build relationships with guest and staff – actively utilizing the Open Table program to recall personal preferences in order to anticipate and exceed expectations

  • Stay informed of upcoming private dining bookings regarding conversations, orders, special requests and contracts

  • Be available to meet and greet guests at their events to ensure their expectations have been met and act quickly to correct any situations that do not meet their expectations

  • Promote effective communication with all departments of the restaurant and hotel

  • Communicate daily via the daily report; including sales, covers, staffing, specials, guest feedback, service issues, etc.

  • Assist with the hiring, training, coaching, counseling, evaluation and scheduling of front of house employees

  • Manage the front of the house food and beverage service operations by being ‘on the floor’ during peak business periods


 


Education and Experience:



  • Previous restaurant supervisory or management experience in restaurant operations, preferably in a resort setting 

  • Leadership skills to inspire a team and above all, the ability to create an unforgettable guest experience!

  • Knowledge of the following: five-star customer service; casual, fine dining operations

  • Training skills; and computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) – Point of Sale and Hot Schedules system experience a plus

  • Food Safety Certification and Alcohol Service Certification
