Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa located in Ojo Caliente, NM is seeking a full-time Assistant Retail Sales Manager.   

The Assistant Retail Manager supports the Retail Sales Manager in overseeing daily retail operations at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Gift Shop. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring a high-quality guest experience, managing inventory and merchandising, and supporting the retail team through scheduling, training, and day-to-day supervision. A strong commitment to customer service, operational excellence, and brand integrity is essential.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works directly with Ojo Spa Resorts Retail manager to ensure the ongoing success of the Ojo Caliente Gift Shop including but not limited to meeting sales goals, providing exceptional customer service, and training team members. 

2. Fosters a welcoming, helpful, and guest-focused atmosphere in the Gift Shop. 

3. Assists in training and leading team to consistently deliver exceptional service 

4. Represents Ojo Spa Resorts professionally in dealing with guest problems and concerns.

5. Maintains accurate inventory levels and inventory control by conducting weekly inventory cycle counts, preparing inventory adjustment logs, transfers / damages log, and inventory reporting. 

6. Oversees proper receiving process by checking invoices, pricing, and price changes, handling damaged products and returns, and ensuring paperwork is routed correctly and in a timely manner.  

7. Supports Retail Sales & Procurement Manager with purchasing by submitting timely, accurate inventory reports, purchasing requests and low inventory reports 

8. Ensures effective implementation of gift shop promotions and sales drives 

9. Manages retail supervisors, retail lead and retail sales associates staff schedules and schedule change requests, as well as approves time cards and PTO requests 

10. Assists with ensuring the financial integrity of the retail area through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to stated company security practices and cash control procedures.

11. Oversees instore merchandising, staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise.

12. Maintains a clean, well-organized store; facilitates a safe and secure working and shopping environment.

13. Presents ideas and participates in ongoing team customer service training and incentive programs for retail staff. 

14. Assists with the ongoing enrichment and professional development of retail team members

15. Identifies, communicates and assigns projects aimed at growing individual team members core strengths. 

16. Completes timely weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as directed by the Retail Manager

17. Position matrix’s reporting to Ojo Spa Resorts Marketing Director, as well as to the to GM at Ojo Caliente.

18. Participates in interviews and hiring for the Ojo Caliente Gift Shop. 

19. Issues PIFs, Write-Ups and termination paperwork at the discretion of Retail Manager and HR. 

20. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Retail Manager. This job description is not all-inclusive. 

Requirements

· Associates Degree or Higher in Business or related field 

· 5 years Retail/customer service experience

· Experience working in a Spa is a plus

· Must be able to work in a high volume, fast paced environment 

· Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management tools

· Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office software 

· Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills

· Detail-oriented, dependable, collaborative, and self-motivated

· Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and standing/walking for extended periods

· Must be comfortable working outdoors and navigating uneven terrain

· Reliable transportation and ability to travel between resort locations weekly

· Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

· Knowledge of best practices in cash management, and in facility and safety control. 

· Ability to ensure compliance with policies and practices. 

· Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

· Employee must be on their feet or moving product around for 8-hour shifts 

Due to the natural environment at Ojo Spa Resorts, all staff must be comfortable outdoors performing physical activities, and be able to navigate uneven ground, diverse terrain, multiple stairs, and be prepared to work in unpredictable weather conditions.
