Job Description - Assistant Sales Manager

Job Summary:
TGU's Assistant Sales Manager supports the Sales Manager and together the two positions help drive growth by analyzing sales data, coaching the sales team, collaborating with general management and operations, forecasting sales, building relationships, understanding customer needs, and providing training. This role requires a proactive and strategic thinker who can thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze Sales Data
Understand and evaluate current Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Develop and evolve new KPIs as needed
Analyze existing sales reports and create new reports to match company growth
Monitor market trends and provide insights on strategic focus areas for TGU

Coach, Train Sales Team
Build strong relationships with the sales team through frequent communication.
Set and communicate sales goals and realistic expectations.
Track and follow through with customer targets.
Supervise and regularly evaluate team performance, providing constructive criticism and identifying development opportunities, including educational resources.

Develop/Maintain Sales Team
Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics
Conduct yearly evaluations, set annual goals for the sales team and offer constructive feedback as needed

Manage and leverage the strengths of team members
Assist in recruitment by conducting interviews in collaboration with HR, ensuring adherence to appropriate interview practices
Adapt training programs to market changes
Conduct training sessions for new hires and offer refresher training

Collaborate with GM/Ops
Contribute to Gross Profit Margin (GPM) development through product innovation and SKU optimization
Manage expectations and assist in streamlining processes to reduce Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Support GM/Ops with annual vendor reviews & other operational tasks
Maintain ongoing communication with operations

Forecasting
Utilize and develop data sets for regular analysis.
Provide timely forecasts to operations

Build Relationships
Foster strong relationships with all sales, customers, operations/logistics, call center and dispatch personnel

Marketing
Develop industry-appropriate marketing materials
Maintain and respond to Google Business reviews
Create new branding opportunities in partnership with Ceres
Develop the TGU marketing team to support Ceres' initiatives
Manage and execute the posting of new pricing on the company website and social media channels
Ensure pricing information is presented clearly, consistently and accurately across all online and in-store platforms

Collaboration with Accounting and Sales Teams:
Assist the accounting team with the tracking and collection of client payments
Coordinate with the sales team to ensure seamless communication regarding pricing changes and payment collections
Provide support in resolving any pricing-related inquiries or issues from clients and internal teams

Pricing Maintenance and Oversight:
Regularly review and update pricing strategies in coordination with the sales and marketing teams
Ensure accurate and up-to-date pricing information is reflected across all platforms and documentation
Monitor market trends and competitor pricing to suggest adjustments and improvements

Understand the Customer and the Market
Strive to exceed customer expectations
Monitor competitors and understand their market share

Master NetSuite and CRM Functions
Manage Google Business/Social Media Presence

Respond to reviews and manage the company's social media presence

Other duties as assigned or needed .
Essential Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Associate degree in Business or Marketing preferred

Must have a 3+ years of current sales experience with demonstrated track record of success

Proven experience in sales management, ideally in a similar industry
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools
Excellent leadership and coaching abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with NetSuite and CRM systems
Knowledge of social media and digital marketing practices
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Desired Qualifications:
Sales experience in a garden center, nursery, landscape or related
Experience or education in the horticulture, agriculture or related field
Bilingual skills in Spanish and English

Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift
Must be able to safely and properly lift 15 lbs. or more occasionally throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance
Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, balance, and push/pull
Must be able to use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating
Specific vision abilities required including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception an ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
Must be able to work with daily exposure to dust and dirt
Moderate noise typical of an office setting such as computers, printers, phone, and light customer traffic
