Assistant Service Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.
- Participate in call rotation schedule as determined by corporate management.
- Maintain automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
- Maintain a central calendar with data on who is bringing a car in and for what reason.
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage, developing estimates, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer rapport and records.
- Conduct inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules.
- Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle, obtaining customer’s approval of estimates, obtaining, and providing contact telephone numbers, answering questions and concerns, and arranging towing and temporary transportation.
- Complete forms (either manually or digitally) detailing who will need to look at the situation, such as a brake specialist or a body shop repairman and dispatch vehicles to the proper place.
Assistant Service Manager Requirements:
- Previous customer service experience.
- Computer and point-of-sale proficiency.
- Organizational and record-keeping skills.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- 2-plus years of experience in a service writer/advisor role strongly preferred.
