Position: Assistant Shop Manager

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Assistant Shop Manager to help oversee daily operations in our busy service shop. This is a hands-on, data-driven role supporting our Shop Manager and technician team to keep things running smoothly and efficiently.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and enter daily work orders
  • Order parts and supplies per technician requests and work orders
  • Manage and track budgets for major repair jobs
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and forecast needs
  • Assist in coordinating repair projects under the guidance of the Shop Manager
  • Draft clear and accurate maintenance and performance reports
  • Seek out tools, systems, and methods to improve shop productivity
  • Keep accurate records and ensure overall shop organization

  

What We’re Looking For:

  • Industry knowledge: Experience in trucking, automotive, or equipment repair
  • Computer proficiency: Strong skills in data entry, inventory systems, and reporting
  • Decision-making: Able to act independently in the absence of senior management
  • Maintenance expertise: Hands-on experience with repair and service tasks
  • Communication: Fluent English (spoken and written); bilingual is a plus
  • Knowledge of recycling/waste equipment is preferred but not required

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Valid Driver’s License (preferred)
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred)
  • In-person availability required (no remote work)
