Assistant Site Coordinator at Benzie Middle School

Summary
The EcoSchool Assistant Site Coordinator will deliver support to the Site Coordinator and other team members to provide nutrition, enrichment, and academic and emotional support to youth.
Essential Roles
- Plan and Implement Programming
- Manage and run programming in the classroom, with and without supervision.
- Prepare and conduct high-quality lessons that align with grant objectives, school day curriculum, and provide academic and social enrichment to students in collaboration with the Site Coordinator
- Respond to all emergencies and carry out emergency response plans
- Collaborative Leadership with the Site Coordinator
- Provide leadership and oversee SEEDS teaching assistants in the absence of the Site Coordinator.
- Run the program in the absence of the Site Coordinator, including responding to all emergencies and carrying out emergency response plans.
- Administrative and Documentation Support
- Document child attendance and behavior issues.
- Understand and assist with compliance and data collection required by DHHS/MiLEAP, Michigan Department of Education (MDE), and SEEDS. Including but not limited to:
- Managing EZ reports,
- Assisting in the Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) process and contributing to the development and fulfillment of the site's Program Improvement Plan (PIP)
- Assist in collecting and maintaining completed Child Information Records (CIR)
- Assist with the creation and collection of programming documents required for Grant Electronic Monitoring (GEMS)
- Assist with reporting outcome data
General Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain excellent work relationships with Site Coordinator, fellow site staff members, school staff, students, and student families.
- Communicate with and solicit assistance from SEEDS team members to complete responsibilities, as needed
- Comply with LARA continuing education requirements, including CPR certification
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe learning environment for students daily
- Attend EcoSchool professional development, regional, and circle meetings
- All other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods,up to 3 hours at a time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to walk up and down stairs regularly
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and pick up items from the floor to a standing position
- Ability/willingness to spend up to an hour daily outdoors in summer and winter temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
- Ability to run for short periods of time
- Must be able to easily get up and down off of the floor

- Ability to read and comprehend DHHS/LARA program requirements
- Strong general writing skills
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Must be able to pass all required background checks
- 1 year of experience working with children or youth (480 hours of direct work with school-aged children preferred)
- Must hold current First Aid/CPR certification, or be willing to obtain such certification within 30 days of hire.
- Must meet all MiLeap qualifications as stated in the Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers booklet (https://www.michigan.gov/mileap/early-childhood-education/cclb)
Preferred Qualifications
- Have completed 15 clock hours, 1 semester hour, or 1.5 CEUs of in child care administration, child development, youth development, or another child-care related field.
- An associate degree or higher in any field of study.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Position Information
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. This position fills the role of Site Administrator as defined in the MiLeap Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers R 400.8419
Hours
- School year work hours: 22-25 hours per week on average, 4 days per week, approximately 1:00 PM – 6:30 PM
- Summer Program work hours: 32-40 hours per week on average, 4 days per week, approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional evening or weekend hours as needed, with variations based on specific site schedules
- Limited work hours in August and December.
Compensation
- Hourly wage: $18.48 - $20.02
