OVERVIEW
Assists with the oversite of sites providing community skills development and rehabilitative skills training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at local activity centers. Work is performed under general supervision and is guided by policies and procedures, quality assurance, public and private payor guidelines, professional practices and including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal licensure and accreditation regulations and guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of day support programming; considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of prevocational and vocational training; considerable knowledge of the employers and service providers of the region; considerable knowledge of the operation of electronic medical records and associated documentation; considerable knowledge of assistive equipment and apparatus; considerable knowledge of social casework management, including need assessment and supportive level counseling; considerable knowledge of the common disabilities and of the theories, principles and practices relating to the care and behavioral management of the intellectually-disabled and developmentally-delayed populations and associated age related issues.
Considerable knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention skills applicable to the intellectually disabled; considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of group training; some knowledge of licensing requirements for the program and facility; ability to establish rapport with intellectually-disabled individuals and their families; ability to collect, compile and evaluate electronically sourced or other sourced statistical and financial data and prepare reports; ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other staff and the staff of private and public agencies; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to function calmly in stressful situations.
Ability to physically lift/move an average weight adult individual; ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment and service plans; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to effectively respond to crisis situations both behavioral and medical.
TYPICAL EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences/Human Services is preferred, high school diploma or GED required. Experience with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities is required.
A combination of other transferrable work experience and education will be considered if it meets the position requirements for the knowledge skills, and abilities required to perform the work.
