Assistant Soccer Coach

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri is seeking an Assistant Soccer Coach who will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student athletes on the JV and Varsity soccer team. The Head Coach will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, student-athletes shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The Assistant Soccer Coach reports to and works closely with the Varsity Head Soccer Coach. The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes participating on the JV and Varsity Soccer Team.

Essential Duties:

• Available to attend tournaments during the season.
• Available to attend afternoon games during the season.
• Available for practices before and after school during the season.
• Able to transport student athletes to and from competitions via the school van.
• Assist the head coach to instruct athletes in all aspects of the game of soccer.
• Run practice independently in the case of the head coach’s absence.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an injury. Models sportsman-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators.
• Participate in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.

Qualifications:

• Coaching experience at the high school or middle school level.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First Aid/CPR.

Assistant soccer Coach must show competency in the following:

• Experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior
• Positive, high energy, and committed
• Partners well with parents, staff, community leaders, etc.
• View success not just as winning, but as helping team members to reach goals
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
