Job Description - Assistant Store Director (Grocery)

Operations Manager

Company: Totum Market and Cafe
Location: Downtown Tampa, Florida

Status: Full‑Time

Reports To: Store Director

Position Summary

The Operations Manager oversees the store's daily operations, ensuring smooth execution across all departments, with a particular focus on the center store departments. This role drives operational excellence, supports team development, maintains merchandising and inventory standards, and ensures exceptional customer experience. The Operations Manager partners closely with the Store Director to achieve financial goals, uphold company standards, and maintain a safe, efficient, and customer‑focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily store operations and ensure all departments meet productivity, service, and merchandising standards
  • Lead, coach, and support department managers and associates to achieve performance goals
  • Maintain store conditions, including cleanliness, organization, signage, and product presentation
  • Monitor inventory levels, ordering accuracy, shrink control, and back‑room organization
  • Support labor planning, scheduling, and real‑time labor adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and company policies
  • Resolve operational issues quickly to maintain service levels
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing development of store teams
  • Analyze daily and weekly reports to identify opportunities and implement corrective actions
  • Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty (MOD) as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of grocery, retail, or multi‑department operations leadership
  • Strong understanding of store operations, merchandising, inventory management, and labor planning
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coach performance, and build a positive culture
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance standards preferred
  • High school diploma required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature environments (coolers, freezers, kitchens)

Salary Range: $70,000–$85,000 annually 

Benefits: health, dental, vision, retirement, pto, etc

Performance Bonus: based on KPI’s and metrics being achieved

Retention bonus available after 12 months of successful store operation
