USR Holdings is a franchisee of Pet Supplies Plus. We are seeking dynamic, growth-oriented leaders for our store management positions. You will play a central role in driving sales performance, upholding operational best practices, and developing a Neighbor-first store culture.
Position Overview
The Assistant Store Team Leader (ASTL) is primarily responsible for supporting the Store Team Leader in creating a healthy and positive store environment for all Team Members and Neighbors, as well as optimizing store performance. The ASTL assists in leading daily floor execution, coaching team members, maintaining merchandising standards, and driving customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Support the Store Team Leader in driving a positive store culture by modeling core company values, fostering accountability, and providing consistent team recognition.
- Assist the Store Team Leader in employee hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, and corrective actions.
- Address performance issues promptly and execute daily communication through team huddles, one-on-ones, and proper channels.
- Passionately learn and advocate for pet care, nutrition, and supply options to guide Neighbors toward the best solutions for their pets.
- Build genuine, loyal relationships with Neighbors, local pet owners, and the broader community.
- Ensure every Neighbor receives outstanding service through prompt greetings, enthusiastic engagement, knowledgeable recommendations, email capture, and carryout assistance.
- Assist in managing and achieving store goals for retail sales, service sales, brand categories, labor costs, staffing levels, inventory accuracy, and shrink.
- Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, sales floor presentation, signage, and shelf stocking across all departments.
- Assist the team in task completion and ensure compliance with company policies through regular store walk-throughs.
Position Requirements
- A strong passion for pets and enthusiasm for becoming an expert in pet care and nutrition.
- Ability to move, handle, and lift store merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and access all store locations (sales floor, inventory stockroom, cash wraps).
- Experience operating POS register systems, computer scheduling systems, and inventory management software.
- Strong verbal/written communication abilities, standard math proficiency, and complete documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work any shifts required by the business, including nights, weekends, and without a set schedule.
Education & Qualifications
- Strong retail supervisory experience within the retail industry and/or successful experience as an Assistant Store Team Leader or Shift Leader.
- Proven experience in coaching, team development, and customer service execution.
- Experience with pet care or retail pet specialty is a strong plus.
