Job Description - Assistant to the Executive Pastor

Summary: The Assistant to the Executive Pastor supports the Executive Pastor by organizing and executing tasks that contribute to a Christ-honoring ministry across Adult Discipleship, Family Discipleship, Mission, and the Storyline Family of Churches. This role helps ensure alignment, communication, and follow-through on key initiatives that equip Storyline to faithfully pursue its mission. Through administrative support, project coordination, and relational awareness, the assistant helps strengthen the ministry efforts led by the Executive Pastor.
Job Responsibilities
Vision Alignment & Ministry Execution
Serve as a high-level partner to the Executive Pastor in casting vision and ensuring alignment across ministries, particularly in Adult Discipleship, Family Discipleship, Mission, and the Storyline Family of Churches.
Help translate strategic priorities into actionable plans by coordinating execution among ministry leaders and administrative staff.
Anticipate the organizational needs required to move ministry efforts forward and ensure timely follow-through.
Track progress on major initiatives and assist in aligning ministry activities with the Executive Pastor’s goals and church-wide priorities.
Coordinate logistics for leadership of the Director team
Administrative Execution
Manage the Executive Pastor’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel as needed with a strategic understanding of ministry rhythms and priorities.
Draft and manage internal and external correspondence on behalf of the Executive Pastor.
Organize shared systems and workflows in Google Drive, Planning Center, BambooHR, and Trello to ensure effective collaboration.
Assist in preparing and managing presentations & decks for teaching/preaching
Provide proactive administrative leadership, offering insight and feedback that helps the Executive Pastor lead with clarity and focus.
Event & Ministry Support
Oversee ministry event logistics by submitting requests, reserving space, and coordinating details with excellence and alignment to Storyline’s culture.
Support ministry teams with tools, structure, and clarity that help each ministry area live out the broader church vision.
Assist in the planning and follow-up for key meetings with staff, prospective hires, and church members who are integral to strategic ministry areas.
Coordinate logistics and provide behind-the-scenes execution support for Family Discipleship and Mission ministries, including Salt and Church Planting
Storyline Family of Churches
Support the Executive Pastor in planting and maintaining strong relationships with church plants through the Storyline Family of Churches initiative.
Coordinate communication, scheduling, and document management for church planting cohorts and partner churches.
Assist in planning cohort gatherings, training environments, and milestone follow-ups for church planters.
Maintain organized systems for agreements, shared tools, and ongoing collaboration between Storyline and each church plant.

Qualifications:
Member of Storyline Church
A daily pursuit of Christian maturity
Agree with & live in alignment with Storyline Statement of Faith
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Decisive leader, willing & eager to support discipleship at Storyline
Organized, strong follow-through, ability to independently problem-solve
High attention to detail and organization
High capacity and flexibility
Confidence and initiative to anticipate needs within this ministry lane and execute accordingly
High level of confidence with computers and ability to becoming proficient in GSuite & Planning Center
