Job Description - Assistant Vice President of Operations

Savannah Technical College is actively seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Assistant Vice President for Operations. Under minimal supervision of the Vice President for Administrative Services, the Assistant Vice President for Operations provides leadership and management for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of facilities management, construction projects, fleet management, sustainability, risk management, and environmental health and safety for the College.
Duties include:
· Develops and implements strategic operational plans aligned with the college’s mission and goals;
· Leads the operations team in achieving high performance and efficiency;
· Oversees the maintenance, renovation, and daily operations of all college facilities;
· Ensures a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment across all campuses;
· Prepares and manages the annual operations budget;
· Monitors expenditures and optimizes resource allocation for maximum efficiency;
· Prepares bids for construction projects to ensure cost-effective and high-quality outcomes;
· Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs;
· Negotiates and manages contracts with vendors, suppliers, and contractors;
· Identifies and implements best practices to streamline operations and improve service delivery;
· Leads initiatives to enhance operational processes and systems;
· Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to college operations;
· Works closely with academic and administrative departments to support their operational needs;
· Serves as a liaison with external partners, including contractors and regulatory agencies;
· Oversees major capital projects, including construction and renovation initiatives;
· Promotes and implements sustainability practices across campus operations;
· Develops and updates operational policies and procedures;
· Ensures policies are communicated effectively and adhered to by all staff;
· Prepares regular reports on operational performance and strategic initiatives;
· Uses data and analytics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement;
· Stays informed about trends and developments in higher education operations;
· Pursues continuous professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge;
· Serves in place of vice president as needed; and
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Five (5) years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the management of building maintenance, grounds, and custodial operations.
Experience with energy management, project management, and campus master planning.

Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The employee frequently bends, lifts and carries lightweight objects up to 25 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
