Greenville University is seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach to support a growing and competitive gymnastics program while helping student-athletes thrive academically, athletically, spiritually, and personally.

The Assistant Coach plays a vital role in all aspects of the program, including coaching, athlete development, recruiting, operations, and team culture. This position is ideal for a coach who is passionate about developing gymnasts' technical abilities while also investing in their character, leadership, and faith. The successful candidate will embrace Greenville University's Christ-centered mission and contribute to a positive, supportive, and growth-focused environment where student-athletes can excel both in competition and in life.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Athlete Development

  • Assist in planning and conducting practices throughout the year.
  • Provide instruction and technical coaching in assigned events and skill development areas.
  • Support the creation and implementation of athlete training plans, including event assignments, routine development, conditioning, and endurance programming.
  • Assist with routine composition and preparation for competition season.
  • Monitor athlete progress and help student-athletes achieve their individual and team goals.
  • Attend and participate in voluntary (off season) practices, team meetings, and individual athlete meetings as appropriate.
  • Foster confidence, accountability, discipline, and personal growth among team members.

Competition & Program Operations

  • Attend all competitions and team-related events as required.
  • Assist with travel planning, meet preparation, and team logistics.
  • Support lineup planning and competition readiness.
  • Assist with distributing team apparel and equipment.
  • Coordinate setup and breakdown for home meets and special events.
  • Help maintain the equipment, supplies, and resources necessary for a successful program.

Recruiting & Enrollment Support

  • Assist in identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes who are a strong academic, athletic, and cultural fit for Greenville University.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recruiting records and communication.
  • Participate in recruiting outreach efforts and follow-up communication.
  • Attend campus visits and assist with facility tours and recruiting events.
  • Build positive relationships with prospective student-athletes and their families throughout the recruiting process.

Camps, Fundraising & Team Engagement

  • Assist with the planning and execution of camps, clinics, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Support team-building activities designed to strengthen relationships and team culture.
  • Participate in departmental and program events that promote community engagement and program visibility.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating end-of-year celebrations and awards events.

Faith, Mentorship & Student Development

  • Serve as a positive Christian role model for student-athletes.
  • Support the spiritual, academic, and personal development of team members.
  • Encourage student-athletes in their faith journey while fostering an environment of respect, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Assist in creating a culture where each athlete feels valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge of women's gymnastics training, competition, and athlete development.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, recruits, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Greenville University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collegiate gymnastics coaching experience.
  • Experience competing and/or coaching at the collegiate, club, or high-level developmental level.
  • Experience with recruiting student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of NCGA, NCAA, and/or USA Gymnastics rules and procedures.
  • Experience planning practices, camps, clinics, or athlete development programs.

 

Salary Band: $29,250-$88,000/ Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
