Job Description - Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Senescence & Cellular Aging

DESCRIPTION
The Buck Institute for Research on Aging invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. This position is established to honor the scientific legacy of Dr. Judith Campisi, a pioneer in the field of cellular senescence and its roles in aging and age-related disease. We seek an outstanding scientist whose research program centers on cellular senescence, senescence-associated phenotypes, mechanisms of cellular aging, and/or interventions targeting senescent cells. All model systems will be considered, including human cellular models.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree at the time of appointment. The successful candidate is expected to build and lead a productive, collaborative, and innovative research group in senescence and aging biology and contribute to the overall Buck mission.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and a minimum of three years of postdoctoral experience with a strong record of research accomplishments
  • Clear demonstration of the potential to establish and lead a cutting-edge research program focused on senescence, cellular aging, and/or geroscience
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to foster team-based, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research within the Institute and across the aging research community
  • Prior experience in senescence-related research and multiomics technologies strongly preferred
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with rank, qualifications, experience, and funding profile. Anticipated annual salary ranges are:
  • Assistant Professor: $130,000 - $190,000
  • Associate Professor: $160,000 - $260,000
  • Professor: $210,000 - $400,000
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employer-sponsored retirement plan with a 5% employer match and student debt repayment plan, paid time off, and paid parental leave. Start-up funding, laboratory space, and research support will be provided consistent with rank and research program needs.

ABOUT US
At the Buck, we aim to end the threat of age-related diseases for this and future generations by bringing together the most capable and passionate scientists from a broad range of disciplines to understand and improve the way in which we age. We are an independent, non-profit institution in Marin County, CA, with the goal of increasing human health span, or the healthy years of life.

The Buck Institute is globally recognized as the pioneer and leader in an effort to target aging, including foundational contributions to the biology of cellular senescence led by former faculty Dr. Judith Campisi, whose work transformed the field and opened new possibilities for therapeutic approaches to aging. This faculty position honors her profound impact on aging science and is intended to support the next generation of leaders in senescence research.

We are an equal opportunity employer and strive to create an atmosphere where diversity of identity, experience, and background is welcomed, valued, and supported. Candidates who contribute to this diversity are strongly encouraged to apply.
