MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
• Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visual Impairment (K–12) or Special Education, with demonstrated expertise in assistive technology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Possess a valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visual Impairment (K–12).
• Formal training or certification in Assistive Technology.
• Experience working in a school setting serving students who are blind or visually impaired.
• Experience collaborating on IEP teams and conducting assistive technology assessments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise objects up to ten pounds. The work requires frequent operation of automotive equipment. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in an office environment and come into direct contact with school/district staff, families, and members of the community.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Special Education, Visual Impairment, Assistive Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
