Job Summary
The Associate will work under the direction and day-to-day oversight of a Senior Associate and/or VP to support the firm's Financial Advisory, Investment Banking, and Restructuring services to its clients. Our ideal candidate will bring financial modeling skills, a strong accounting foundation, ability to build cash flow models, be professionally and intellectually curious, possess strong “horsepower” and rigor and initiative, the ability to thrive under high expectations, and a willingness to step into both IB and restructuring work.
This position will be based in our Chicago company.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required.
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years restructuring, investment banking, credit-related or principal investing experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong working knowledge of CapIQ, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Octus and related tools.
- Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, including financial modeling experience and skills to:
- build dynamic 3-statement projections models
- evaluate a company’s credit worthiness in terms of leverage / coverage / liquidity
- calculate implied MOIC / IRR values across the capital structure for various transaction alternatives over time
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Flexible to work extended hours as needed, dependent upon assigned engagements.
- Travel may be required up to 25%.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform industry and client research using internet searches, database subscriptions, and research reports.
- Assist in compiling, editing, and proofing client presentations.
- Set up and manage electronic data rooms.
- Assist in drafting and editing Confidential Information Memorandums and teasers.
- Participate in client due diligence meetings and buyer/investor presentations as requested.
- Research prospective buyers / investors for investment banking engagements and track all solicitation processes in Deal Cloud.
- Build and Develop valuation analyses and integrated financial models:
- Discount cash flow with CapM cost of capital
- Transaction comparables
- Public trading comparables
- Liquidation analysis
- Long range financial forecast
- Mergers
- Leverage Buyouts/Recapitalization
- Restructuring and Bankruptcy Related:
- Assists in development of 13/26-weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Supports preparation of bankruptcy related schedules and analyses.
- Provide support as needed across all facets in bankruptcy cases.
Training / Certifications
- Complete “Training the Street” financial modeling seminar.
- Must obtain FINRA SIE, 79, 63 licenses within 1 year of hire date.
