Job Description - Associate Attorney

Associate Attorney Debt Recovery

Colorado Bar Admission Required

Overview:
A Colorado-based law firm is seeking an experienced Debt Recovery Associate Attorney to join its team. This role focuses on collecting unpaid assessments from homeowners within covenant-controlled communities such as condominiums, townhomes, and single-family homes through judgment enforcement and judicial foreclosure. The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 700 active collection files.

  • Evaluate delinquencies, prepare case intakes, and handle pre- and post-trial negotiations, including ADR.
  • Draft, review, and approve pleadings in county, district, and bankruptcy courts.
  • Prepare and execute post-judgment actions, including garnishments, interrogatories, stipulations, and foreclosures.
  • Conduct and appear at hearings, trials, and appeals as required.

  • Perform legal research to support case strategies and filings.

  • Monitor and evaluate bankruptcies, foreclosures, and related proceedings.

  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor support staff to ensure efficient management of their caseloads.
  • Participate in business development activities as needed.

  • Maintain timely and accurate reporting and case updates.

Qualifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Colorado.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in legal collections, debt recovery, or related litigation.

  • Strong knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software.
