About Dickson Frohlich Phillips Burgess PLLC

Dickson Frohlich Phillips Burgess (DFPB) is a full-service Pacific Northwest law firm with deep roots in Washington State. We represent developers, businesses, investors, property owners, lenders, and public and private entities across a broad range of litigation, regulatory, and transactional matters.

We are known for our practical, solution-oriented advice, collaborative culture, and strong relationships throughout the South Sound and across Washington. Our Olympia office plays a central role in serving clients locally and statewide.

Position Overview

DFPB is seeking a mid- to senior-level Associate Attorney to join our Olympia office. This position offers sophisticated work, direct client engagement, and meaningful responsibility within a collegial, team-oriented environment. While prior experience in land use, real estate, or related regulatory fields is welcome, we are open to candidates from other practice areas whose skills and experience align with the responsibilities outlined below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on legal, regulatory, and business matters relevant to their operations and strategic objectives.

  • Lead and support complex matters, which may include transactional work, regulatory compliance, administrative proceedings, or litigation support.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, agreements, and filings.

  • Conduct and manage due diligence, legal analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Represent clients before administrative bodies, governmental agencies, or in dispute-resolution settings, as applicable.

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, agency staff, opposing counsel, and internal team members to advance client objectives.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups to deliver efficient, high-quality client service.

  • Manage multiple matters with increasing independence and responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • 5–7 years of experience in a law firm or comparable legal setting, with demonstrated progression in responsibility and autonomy.

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar, or eligibility for admission by motion.

  • Strong drafting, analytical, research, negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills.

  • Sound professional judgment and the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience handling sophisticated matters with significant client contact.

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, administrative processes, or complex transactions.

  • Experience working as part of a team on multifaceted matters spanning multiple practice areas.

  • Prior law firm experience with meaningful client interaction.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on high-quality, sophisticated matters in a collaborative and supportive environment.

  • Direct client contact and hands-on responsibility.

  • Strong Olympia presence with access to firm-wide resources and regional expertise.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits, commensurate with experience.
