We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Trusts and Estates to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong passion for estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters, exhibit determination and perseverance, and find motivation and fulfillment in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including tax minimization, creditor protection, accomplishing family goals, etc.
- Draft various estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and more complex documents when required.
- Preparation of gift and estate tax returns.
- Handle trust and estate administration matters, including asset collection, valuation, basis updating, and distribution.
- Represent clients in probate proceedings and provide guidance through the probate process.
- Work closely with and report to the firm’s managing partner on complex cases and strategic decisions.
- Conduct legal research and remain up-to-date on developments in Trusts and Estates law.
- Collaborate with clients, beneficiaries, financial advisors, and other professionals to achieve client objectives.
- Manage a diverse caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and client needs are addressed.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in Trusts and Estates law, including estate planning, trust administration, and probate.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Illinois.
- Strong drafting skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-centered approach.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with estate planning software and tools is a plus.
