Job Description
- Investigate healthcare billing practices, insurance claims, and alleged fraud schemes.
- Analyze claims data, billing records, and large volumes of supporting documentation.
- Develop compelling case theories and litigation strategies from complex factual records.
- Build cases designed to satisfy heightened fraud pleading requirements.
- Design and execute discovery strategies across complex, multi-claim litigation.
- Draft interrogatories, requests for admission, document requests, pleadings, complaints, motions, and oppositions.
- Organize high-volume evidence into claim matrices, analytical spreadsheets, evidentiary summaries, and other litigation tools.
- Prepare detailed legal opinions supported by data analysis, investigative findings, and expert input.
- Conduct research involving healthcare fraud, insurance fraud, False Claims Act matters, and complex civil litigation.
- Prepare for and take depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts.
- Analyze deposition testimony and incorporate key evidence into litigation strategy.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness outlines, exhibits, evidence organization, and case themes.
- Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, investigators, government entities, and other stakeholders.
- Handle additional complex business litigation involving contracts, fraud claims, and employment-related disputes.
- Participate actively in hearings, motion practice, discovery, and litigation from inception through resolution.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience.
- Active California Bar license with no public disciplinary history required.
- Juris Doctor degree required.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and manage complex factual records and data-intensive cases.
- Comfortable taking significant responsibility and working directly with senior attorneys.
- Experience or strong interest in healthcare fraud, insurance fraud, False Claims Act, qui tam, or complex civil litigation.
- Deposition experience preferred.
- Strong discovery and motion practice experience preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-responsibility litigation environment.
