Associate Attorney (Workers Compensation)

We are a full-service litigation firm specializing in the representation of first responders (police officers, firefighters, and correctional officers). Our main office is in Westlake Village comprised of 16 attorneys and over 60 employees, this position will be based in our San Diego office. Our firm represents clients in labor negotiations, internal affairs investigations, disciplinary appeals, administrative litigation, officer-involved shootings, criminal defense, personal injury litigation, employment litigation, and workers’ compensation.

The firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to add to the team. The candidate will be expected to provide high level litigation skills, including but not limited to: filing motions, researching complex legal issues, conducting discovery, taking depositions, appearing in court, assisting partners in managing a full caseload, and most importantly, maintaining direct client relations.

Responsibilities
• Gathering and reviewing evidence
• Conducting depositions of Parties, Witnesses, Physicians, and other Experts
• Creating and conducting discovery
• Performing legal research, and drafting motions, briefs, appeals
• Making court appearances
• Drafting and promoting legislation to benefit first responders
• Counseling clients through effective communication
• Negotiating, settling, and litigating cases

Qualifications
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong legal knowledge and proficient writing skills
• Top 25% preferred
• CA Bar License (required)
