Overview
The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine (LCSVM) seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Clinical Programs and Outreach (ADCPO). As the leader of the Office of Clinical Programs and Outreach, the ADCPO is responsible for oversight of the clinical curriculum, ensuring its excellence and confluence with the preclinical curriculum. A major responsibility of the ADCPO is engagement and oversight of our clinical partners within the state and beyond as providers within the distributive model of clinical veterinary education. The ADCPO will serve as a key member of the leadership team of the LCSVM. This role is primarily administrative, with opportunities for teaching and outreach/service. This is a full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This position will entail travel - both within the state of Arkansas and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the Office of Clinical Programs and Outreach, including the supervision of personnel and maintenance of records/procedure descriptions.
Contribute to the continued development and implementation of a vibrant and innovative, clinical veterinary curriculum aimed at graduating career and future ready veterinarians.
Promote the mission of LCSVM to all faculty, staff, and students and the veterinary community.
Contribute to a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity towards better outcomes.
Provide oversight of our external clinical partners/collaborators that contribute to the clinical education of our veterinary students, ensuring mutually beneficial relationships and outcomes.
Continue to recruit and calibrate external clinical sites and develop, organize, and oversee the clinical rotation schedule including all faculty and student assessments.
Prepare outcome assessment data in support of institutional effectiveness related to the clinical program and quality assurance standards.
Supervise the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of the LCSVM clinical courses.
Aid in establishment and oversight of learning outcomes/goals for clinical courses in the academic programs.
Qualifications
:
DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA COE accredited college/school of veterinary medicine.
Preferred:
Implementing or mentoring DVM students in the field in the distributive model of clinical veterinary education.
Experience in veterinary practice.
Board certification in a recognized veterinary specialty.
Record of contributions to organized veterinary medicine.
Experience in a veterinary medical academic environment with an understanding of the academic environment and curriculum development.
Working knowledge of information systems and databases.
Strong record of creativity, innovation, and academic leadership.
Enthusiasm for building programs and creating professional networks.
Exceptional leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Evidence of strong relationships within the veterinary community.
Understanding of the principles of andragogy as they apply to the clinical components of a veterinary professional curriculum.
Dedication to student and community service.
