Dentists will meet with patients, assess their dental health, complete comprehensive diagnostic examinations, and provide a variety of dental services. They work with other staff members, such as dental hygienists and assistants, to provide our patients with quality dental care. Our dentists are the clinical leader within the practice.
Primary Responsibilities and Tasks
Responsible for day-to-day management and function of all clinical activities of the assigned area which include recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation of all clinical and operational oriented staff. This position is responsible for the assimilation and smooth operation of productive dental teams and is responsible for the management and supervision of personnel, client/patient relations and satisfaction.
Key Competencies and Characteristics
Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic tools to evaluate dental health, diagnosis diseases or abnormalities and plan appropriate course of treatment.
Performing a variety of dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and minor/major restorations. Providing safe anesthesia prior to dental treatment.
Educate patients on preventative dental care, the cause and treatments of dental problems and oral health care services.
Design, make, and fit prosthodontic appliances, such as space maintainers, bridges, and dentures or write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for dental lab technicians.
Prescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics.
Diagnose, treatment plan, and/or refer specialty services such as Invisalign and implants.
Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
Updating and maintaining patient records relating to the oral health of patients and the services rendered.
Managing and communicating with other staff members to provide care to patients.

Requirements
Education and Training
Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine.
State license and malpractice insurance.
Additional experience, certifications, or licensing may be required.
Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications.
Willingness to comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding dental and health care.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to keep detailed records.
Comprehensive and current knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostics.
Patience when dealing with patients and staff.
Ability to communicate with patients regarding their health and care.
