We are looking for an Associate Director to join the Institute for Implementation Science as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX 77030. In this position, you would manage the day-to-day operations and administrative tasks of the Institute. This includes collaborating with the Co-Directors on the strategic direction and executing the plan, hiring and managing staff, managing the budget, leading staff meetings to ensure projects are moving forward, and contributing to grant proposals for Institute funding. The UTHealth Institute for Implementation Science was launched in 2021 but has grown rapidly. The Associate Director will work closely with the Institute’s Co-Directors to develop the strategic plan for the Institute and execute the plan. As the Institute continues to grow, we aim to be agile and flexible while establishing a strong solid foundation. The Institute comprises two Co-Directors, three core faculty members, one post-doctoral fellow, and four staff members, with more staff anticipated. We are a virtual Institute and currently do not have a physical space. Faculty are located with their primary appointment, and staff are located within the School of Public Health. Most meetings are held via MS Teams, with occasional in-person meetings either in Houston or Dallas.

Position Summary:
Provides leadership for the Institute for Implementation Science operations and initiatives. Accountable for the overall planning, coordinating, and directing business management and administrative services for the Institute. Promotes multidisciplinary research collaborations and training in the areas of Implementation Science.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Serves as lead administrator for the Institute with overall responsibility for marketing, business development, fiscal and personnel management.
Provides supervision and support for the Institute's quality reviewactivities.
Monitorsandsupervisesbudgetsincollaborationwithotherdepartmentmanagersandadministratorswithin the department.
Participates in grant writing efforts and is heavily involved in contractnegotiations.
ManagesrelationshipsasInstituteliaisonforagencyandbusinesspartners.Servesasapointpersonto develop and deploy the institute's programs, policies, guidelines, and activities in collaboration with various stakeholder organizations and agencies.
Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regard to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination,training,professionaldevelopment,mentoring,counseling,performanceevaluations,andsalaryplanning.
Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls that provides reasonableassurancethatoperationsareeffectiveandefficient,assetsaresafeguarded;financialinformation is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
SupportsstrategicplanningfortheInstitute andcollaborateswiththeInstituteleadershipanddirectorsin planning and implementing strategic plans.
Performs other duties asassigned.
Certification/Skills:
Strong knowledge of Implementation Science, Grant Writing, and Project Management preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, Public Health Care Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred, preferably in public health. PhD in science or public health is strongly encouraged.
Six (6) years of related experience. Experience in evaluation studies or implementation science preferred. Experience in advanced grant proposal writing and submission is preferred.
Experience with strategic planning and execution, organizational leadership, and supervising people is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive: This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215. Residency Requirement: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
