Job Description - Associate Director, Major Gifts

Summary/Objective:
The Associate Director, Major Gifts, is a key member of the Advancement team responsible for identifying prospects, building relationships, and driving revenue growth in support of the Academy Museum. The Associate Director will manage their own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors and is charged with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors.

Working closely with the Director, Major Gifts, and staff across the Advancement team, the Associate Director will create exciting, donor-focused gift proposals that support the museum’s film and education programming, exhibitions, accessibility initiatives, and capital needs. This role will also help develop strategies for museum fundraising programs and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as relationship manager for a portfolio of approximately 125-150 key donors and prospects capable of giving at the Major Gifts ($100,000+) level.
Develop a multi-year fundraising and stewardship strategy for assigned relationships.
Play a visible and collaborative leadership role within the overall Advancement team and for organization-wide projects and priorities.
Provide professional support and partnership to Campaign and Development Committee members in identification, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
Actively engage in regular donor/prospect communication, cultivation, and direct solicitation with specific metrics and fundraising goals.
Lead the development and execution of key advancement initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Major Gifts Officer with 5-7 years successful fundraising experience including direct solicitation of 6 and 7 figure gifts.
Exceptional donor-relations skills: proven ability in creating strategies to cultivate prospects and channel donor engagement.
Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards.
Proven track record of success with fundraising systems and prospect identification.
Intermediate Proficiency in MS Office Suite and various electronic communication tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a highly motivated, goal-oriented team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Required Vaccination: Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable. Exception: Medical and religious accommodations are approved by the Office of People & Culture.

Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
