Associate Director of Evangelism

Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Evangelism serves by planning, managing, and leading evangelism projects and workflows of the Ministry, building quality relationships with church leadership at all levels, assisting with facilitating mission trips and evangelistic campaigns, and organizing other events and projects for the Evangelism Department under the direction of the Director of Evangelism. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.

Authority & Accountability:

Authority as delegated by and accountable to the Director of Evangelism in accordance with It Is Written’s policies and objectives.

Essential Position Functions:

• Report directly to the Director of Evangelism and assist with and/or lead evangelism responsibilities, providing successful project management of tasks and initiatives.


• Assist the Director in managing details of multiple departmental projects simultaneously, including internal plans and external initiatives for the global public.


• Coordinate, negotiate, and plan Division, Union, and Conference-level evangelism projects worldwide in cooperation with church leadership. These projects are typically lined up at least two years before and follow the evangelism cycle blueprint.

• Organize and manage large-scale events such as ReCharge, Conference-wide evangelistic meetings, mission trips, and other similar projects.
  
  
  
  • Manage logistical components of major Ministry evangelistic campaigns and evangelism-led events, including ordering supplies, booking venues, securing advertising contracts, creating timelines and deadlines, overseeing details with Conference leaders, and coordinating with other Ministry departments to ensure deadlines are kept. The ability to process details, multitask, and make decisions independently is necessary and crucial.
  
  
  • Manage budgets for large-scale evangelism and mission projects.
  
  
  • Coordinate with other Ministry departments to create timely public relations communications, websites, videos, and marketing for large-scale projects.
  
  
  • Administer the initial setup and coordination of mission trips and humanitarian projects. Collaborate with leadership at inviting locations to establish logistics, including meals, housing, transportation, and other necessary components. Work in cooperation with the Director, but able to make independent decisions, where appropriate.
  
  
  • Lead select mission trips and coordinate with the Director to find leaders for other trips. Assist trip leaders in planning and executing trips as needed.
  
  
  • Market to and recruit anchor groups for mission trips from Conferences, churches, academies, and universities.
  
  
  • Conduct follow-up with mission trip participants and provide communication on future trips and related information.
  
  
  
  


• Assist the Director in coordinating evangelism schedules for field evangelists, including processing contracts and planning logistics. Call various Conferences and Unions to solicit appointments.


• Represent the Ministry and the Evangelism Department in public relations and professional communication with Divisions, Unions, Conferences, and local entities of the world church and other partnering ministries. Proper representation requires solid leadership expertise in public relations.


• Assist the Director in managing the Mega Mailer program and online Bible School in coordination with IT and Customer Service departments to ensure maximum effectiveness.


• Coordinate the volunteer prayer team. Meet 1-2 times per year with volunteers.


• Partner with Customer Service on free offer processing, enrollment of interests in Bible studies, and relationship with Adventist Information Ministry (AIM) for follow-up services.


• Be available to meet in person for Evangelism Department meetings, project meetings, and to facilitate work with team members from other departments.


• Collaborate with other team members in the office environment to learn, support, encourage, improve, and complete tasks and duties.


• Fulfill other related responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Specific Job Duties:

• Preach at least one evangelistic meeting per year domestically or internationally.


• Conduct evangelism training(s) per selected ministry invitations.


• Represent It Is Written at different functions (e.g., preaching Sabbath mornings at a church, attending conventions, camp meetings, or events to promote public relations).


• Write articles for Impressions magazine.


• Provide content for daily inspirational Facebook posts.


• Lead out in online training or social media events.

    • A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
    
    
    • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Experience:
    
    
    
    • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in pastoral and evangelism work is required.
    
    
    • Ordination as a gospel minister by the Seventh-day Adventist Church is preferred.
