GENERAL SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Events is responsible for managing various areas in the department including but not limited to the planning and execution of fundraising and community events.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
The Associate Director of Events will report directly to the Vice President of Development and work closely with the Director of Individual Giving to implement the annual event strategy.
Leads the development department in Event Planning, Coordination, Execution and Evaluation.
Partners with others core leaders of major donors, institutional giving, marketing and media.
Collaborates with directors across the organization to build trust and ensure that the development team is authentically representing the organization.
Supervises the Events Manager and Events Administrator.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Two years of professional experience in Event Management, Development, Advancement and/or fundraising.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
Experience of successful external relationships with vendors, venues, and attendees.
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated skills or desire to grow supervisory skills required to lead a small team.
Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to provide a high level of customer service.
Ability to work effectively in a complex institution.
Demonstrated self-starter with solid ability to work autonomously.
Solid technology skills and driven to identify tools and processes to maximize the efficiency of the Contributions team.
Experience mapping processes, identifying gaps and developing solutions to address gaps.
Demonstrated experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
Solid ability to build rapport and intuitive ability to read an audience and adjust approach and style to meet the needs of an audience and/or donor.
Must be willing to work non-standard work schedule including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours due to business needs.
Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
Travel:Some travel is required for this role. This role is required to maintain primary auto insurance at
minimum liability limits of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury, $100,000 property damage or $300,000
combined single limit. Must be an approved St. Matthew’s House driver.
