Position: Associate Director, Trust Officer

Job Overview: The Trust Officer facilitates the creation of new estate plans, trusts, and irrevocable instruments, updates existing plans, and facilitates communication between legal counsel and constituents in estate planning to further benefit the mission of the church.
Responsibilities: The Associate Director, Trust Officer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following duties and areas.
Personal Spiritual Life: The Associate Director of PG&TS should exhibit evidence of a strong spiritual life, being firmly grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus. They must be supportive of the fundamental doctrines and teachings, and the distinctive lifestyle standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Required Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent people skills and the ability to build good-will with individuals and families. Good communication skills are required both individually and when communicating to groups of people. Is proficient in both verbal and written usage of the English language. Must be able to speak clearly to PGTS constituents with varying hearing levels. Have basic math skills and able to apply them to problems or tasks. Is able to closely follow instructions, work independently, read technical estate planning manuals, including GC Trust Services Manual.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Must either have NAD Trust Officer Certification or be able to obtain certification within the first year of employment. Prior denominational experience as a pastor or teacher is preferred.
Employment Conditions/Physical Requirements: The majority of the time will be spent at a desk working at a computer or on the phone but standing and walking are also necessary. Some travel, ground and air, is required. Some occasional lifting and moving of supplies and equipment will be necessary (generally less than 25 pounds).
Elected Office Position: All positions of employment for department director and associate department director in the Oregon Conference are elected and confirmed by the Oregon Conference Executive Committee. This committee is elected every five years by the Oregon Conference constituency and are tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the operation of the Conference during the five-year term. Employment in this position is a recognition by the Executive Committee of your leadership abilities and your sacred calling to support the Seventh-day Adventist Church in sharing the Gospel within our territory.
