We are looking for a Associate Director, U.S. Federal Government Affairs who is strategic, collaborative, and results-driven to join our U.S. Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) team, based in our Washington, DC office.


 


About the role


You will be responsible for initiating and executing comprehensive strategies to engage with federal policymakers to help advance public policies that support patients’ access to innovative therapies. You will work across complex legislative environments, building relationships and influencing policy outcomes that align with patient-focused priorities.


 


Who you’ll work with


You will collaborate closely with colleagues across corporate affairs, regulatory, commercial, and market access functions, as well as external partners including policymakers, trade associations, and coalitions. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative team focused on aligning priorities and driving meaningful impact for patients.


 


What you’ll do



  • Represent UCB before the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch on company specific issues as well as issues of importance to the biopharma industry. 

  • Shape policy strategies supporting access to innovative therapies

  • Monitor federal policy trends and assess business impact

  • Collaborate internally to align priorities across functions

  • Engage trade associations and external partners to influence decisions

  • Help manage federal engagement by UCB lobbying consultants

  • Communicate policy developments and insights to key stakeholders

  • Participate in political fundraisers on behalf of UCB’s political action committee.  Outreach to eligible employees to encourage participation in PAC membership.

Minimum requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 8–10 years federal policy or Capitol Hill experience

  • Experience in healthcare public policy at the federal level

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently

  • Proven ability to build relationships and drive collaboration


 


Preferred requirements



  • Strong research and analysis skills in public policy, particularly health care

  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities

  • Strong written communication and presentation skills

  • Established network within Congressional offices and policy stakeholders, particularly Republican offices

  • Comfort and ability to present information internally and externally on behalf of UCB


 


This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $148,000-194,300. The actual salary offered will take into account related knowledge, skills, experience and location among other factors and may fall outside the expected range.
