Description

Coordinates administrative and/or operational functions of an organizational unit under the supervision of a manager or director. May supervise and/or provide guidance to employees or be responsible for the management of programs, initiatives or events.

 

Initial screening will begin Wednesday, August 19th, and will occur every Wednesday thereafter. 



Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities include coordinating mental health and performance services for NCAA student-athletes and providing direct clinical and performance services to individuals and teams.
  • Engages in counseling-related activities including, but not limited to, maintaining counseling records, making referrals, and managing various administrative and organizational needs, including but not limited to coordinating referrals to outside resources for mental health and AOD services for student-athletes. 
  • Participates in a multi-disciplinary team within the athletic department in the management of student-athletes with significant mental health issues, disordered eating, etc. Establishes relationships with university and community mental health providers.
  • Enhances awareness of mental health issues impacting student-athletes, provides individual performance optimization consultation sessions, delivers team sport psychology sessions, and remains available for coach and administrative consultation. 
  • Provides outreach education and presentations for student-athletes, coaches, staff, and specific support units as requested by the director or others. Coordinates service delivery for special cases including substance use, disordered eating, and severe-persistent mental illness education and treatment. Identify psychological education outreach needs and offer relevant programming. 
  • Provides supervision for interns and student-athletes. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

     


Qualifications

Associate Director Level:

  • Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work (MSW), Clinical Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Independent licensure is not required at the time of hire; however, the successful candidate must be actively pursuing independent clinical licensure designated as a mental health service provider (LMFT, LPC-MHSP, LCSW) and remain in good standing with the applicable Tennessee licensing board. Must be obtained within a year of hire.
  • One (1) year of relevant clinical experience (can include clinical practicum and internship).
  • Knowledge of evidence-based counseling modalities, crisis assessment and intervention strategies, and case management.
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA, FERPA, NCAA, University, and professional ethical standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

 

Director Level:

  • Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work (MSW), Clinical Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Must be license eligible in the State of Tennessee and eligible to obtain the appropriate temporary or associate license required for supervised practice.
  • One (1) year of relevant clinical experience (can include clinical practicum and internship).
  • Must be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Tennessee as a Psychologist with Health Service Provider (HSP) designation or fully licensed with HSP designation within one (1) year of hire or possess an equivalent license such as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Knowledge of evidence-based counseling modalities, crisis assessment and intervention strategies, and case management.
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA, FERPA, NCAA, University, and professional ethical standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
