Job Description - Associate Electrical Engineer

Launch and grow your engineering career in a hands-on, project-driven environment. We’re seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer (Motor Control & Automation focus) to support the design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial motor control and automation systems. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers who want practical, real-world experience with VFDs, motor control, PLCs, and industrial automation while learning directly from experienced engineers. You don’t need to be a “drives expert” on day one—we provide mentorship, training, and project exposure to help you build technical skills and confidence over time.

Headquartered in Monroeville, PA, Premier Automation designs and manufactures advanced motor control, VFD, and integrated automation systems for industrial customers worldwide. You’ll work on projects spanning multiple industries and technologies, gaining continuous learning opportunities and exposure to meaningful technical challenges. We pride ourselves on a collaborative culture where engineers are involved from concept through commissioning, and where your contributions directly impact project success.

We believe in taking care of our team. Here’s how we do it:

  • Comprehensive medical coverage with a 100% company-paid deductible

  • Dental and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with employer match and immediate vesting

  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability coverage

  • Paid time off package with PTO, 10 company holidays, sick leave, and parental leave for growing families

  • Overtime compensation

  • Company-provided tools and boot allowance

  • Education assistance for ongoing professional development

  • $1,000 employee referral bonuses

  • Employee wellness programs

  • Schedule & Travel: Monday–Friday, daylight hours with flexibility; 20–25% travel for commissioning, field support, and occasional on-call work (some evenings/weekends); overtime eligible

  • Team & Reporting: You’ll work within the Drives Systems group under the guidance of senior and lead engineers, collaborating closely with project management, manufacturing, and customers

  • Growth & Mentorship: You’ll gain hands-on experience with motor control systems, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial automation while receiving mentorship and increasing responsibility over time

  • Team Culture & Appreciation: We’re proud to promote a collaborative culture that values communication and problem-solving, supported by appreciation events and team activities, including sports leagues, community involvement opportunities, and seasonal celebrations

  • Interview & Onboarding Process: Virtual and on-site interviews, a facility tour, reference checks, and pre-employment screening
