Description
This position leads the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, and, in partnership with the Board of Directors, is responsible for its strategic direction and success. The Associate Executive Director, Membership oversees and manages all operations around membership, including membership services staff, membership sales and membership retention. The AED, Membership provides direction and leadership for YMCA membership operations and input on strategic initiatives. Assists with development of policies and ensures their implementation.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Lead the planning, growth, and daily operations of the YMCA of Greater Whittier, Uptown Branch and membership initiatives and operations for all YMCA of Greater Whittier locations.
2. Support, articulate, and demonstrate the mission, values, vision, and goals of the YMCA of the Greater Whittier to employees, board members, and the community.
3. Serve as an external ambassador of the branch, developing and maintaining strong community relationships to develop a large and active membership, support the community’s growth, and identify and engage key community leaders.
4. Lead efforts to increase member engagement to ensure that a high-performance, member-centric culture of service is in place; ensure employees are fully on-boarded and engaged to serve the members/participants and meet or exceed growth and retention goals.
5. Develop, implement, and manage an annual operating plan to promote innovation, excellence, and membership growth.
6. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff; identify individual and team objectives; coach and evaluate individual performance.
7. Develop and oversee the Uptown Whittier branch department budgets so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives; ensure revenue production and growth to maintain a balanced budget.
8. Ensure proper maintenance of branch facilities and equipment to the highest level of safety and efficiency.
9. Support the Y’s philanthropic goals by developing and cultivating donor/alumni relationships. With support from the Y’s development department, oversee the annual branch campaign to achieve steady growth.
10. Ensures that regulatory requirements for licensing are met.
11. Develop and maintain contacts in wider community to educate and inform about the work of the YMCA and to solicit their interest and support.
12. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, schools, businesses, and governmental entities.
13. Responds to and ability to report child abuse as a mandated reporter
