Job Description - Associate Planner

My client is currently seeking Urban/Associate Planners in the Sacramento region.
Responsibilities:
Supports senior staff in enforcing subdivision and land use regulations.
Engages in professional-level tasks within current or advanced planning, zoning, and design review.
Assists applicants and property owners in submitting land use review applications, including data compilation and mapping for General Plan, zoning, subdivision, variances, use permits, environmental review, and design review.
Evaluates planning project and permit applications for completeness, code compliance, and consistency with development and design standards.
Reviews building plans, parcel maps, and subdivision proposals to ensure adherence to regulations.
Processes applications and non-structural plans required for permit issuance.
Manages application routing to City departments, coordinates with regulatory agencies, and conducts site inspections.
Supports the Permit Center, liaises with stakeholders, and reviews development plans.
Ensures compliance with state or local Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO).
Maintains planning data using software programs.
Acts as a liaison between project applicants, City staff, consultants, and the public.
Leads complex planning applications as Project Manager.
Analyzes social, economic, population, and land use data and trends.
Prepares technical reports, presentations, recommendations, and graphic exhibits.
Contributes to training and shares technical skills within the Planning Dept./Division.
Represents the municipality/Planning Division in various advisory committees, regional meetings, and agencies.
Conducts routine or complex architectural reviews.
Collects and maintains demographic data and related statistics.
Drafts reports and ordinances for City staff, the City Council, Zoning Administrator, and the Planning Commission.
Provides information and recommendations for special studies.
Prepares correspondence and legal documents as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualificiations:
Candidates must have at least two (2) years of accountable professional experience in urban planning, along with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with significant coursework in urban planning, architecture, or a related discipline.
Alternatively, an equivalent blend of experience and education that enables the execution of essential job duties and furnishes the necessary knowledge and skills will be considered qualifying.
Additionally, a Master's degree in planning can substitute for one year of the requisite experience
