Job Description - Associate - Private Investment Funds

Private Funds Associate | NYC. SF. BOS.

If you're a mid-level associate (class years 2020 to 2022) and you're not looking to be another cog in the BigLaw machine, read on.

Our AmLaw 100 client is building out its powerhouse Private Investment Funds team, and they’re looking for someone who’s already been in the trenches of fund formation. You’ll be working with top-tier PE, real estate, and tech sponsors who play in the billion-dollar sandbox. This is high-stakes, high-impact work.

What you’ll actually be doing:

  • Running with private fund formation deals (not just supporting — leading)

  • Drafting core docs, negotiating with LPs, and making regulatory headaches look easy

  • Navigating the '33 Act, Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisers Act like a pro

You should bring:

  • 2–5 years at a top firm doing serious fund work

  • A JD from a strong law school and the confidence to show it

  • Bar admission in NY, CA, or MA (or close to it)

  • The mindset of someone who likes to move fast, work smart, and not just follow the playbook

Where you’ll sit:
New York, San Francisco, or Boston — your pick. Big firm infrastructure, but with a team that’s lean, sharp, and trusted with the most sophisticated mandates.

This is where smart attorneys go when they want to level up without selling out. Sound like you? Let’s chat.
