The News Producer plays a pivotal role in shaping the editorial direction and on-air execution of live news programming. This dynamic position requires a skilled professional who can seamlessly manage live segments, craft compelling scripts, and lead production efforts under pressure. Reporting to show producers, the News Producer is responsible for driving story development, ensuring factual accuracy, and coordinating all production elements to deliver timely, engaging, and high-quality content that aligns with Newsmax’s editorial standards. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong journalistic judgment, and contributes creatively to the newsroom’s mission of delivering impactful stories to a national audience.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with show producers to plan and execute live shots and guest segments.
Write scripts, voice overs, and teases in a lively, conversational tone that is both entertaining and factually accurate.
Generate story ideas, identify relevant guests, and develop topics with strong editorial relevance.
Design and produce script-related elements, including tape packages, graphics, and audio components.
Conduct thorough research, verify facts, and organize video and sound assets for seamless integration.
Operate within the control room to support real-time editorial changes and ensure smooth segment delivery.
Source and select news footage, sound bites, and interviews; oversee post-production editing.
Monitor breaking news developments and promptly communicate updates to the production team.
Coordinate with reporters, editors, and production staff to ensure all content is prepared and compliant with editorial guidelines.
Requirements
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in national or large-market local TV news production.
Proven experience in control room operations and managing breaking news coverage.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality content while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Exceptional writing, producing, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong news judgment with deep knowledge of politics, history, geography, and current events.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and fast-breaking stories.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including prime time and overnight hours as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
