EAD Engineering is looking for an experienced Associate Project Manager for projects in industrial, processing, institutional and commercial facilities. The Associate Project Manager supports cross-functional teams of process/business experts, engineers, and designers to deliver client projects on time, on budget and in scope, working under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This role is a developmental step toward full project ownership, with growing responsibility for client interaction and project execution.
Responsibilities
Ensure assigned project tasks and work packages are delivered under budget, within schedule, within the agreed-to scope and with a great customer experience
Support Project Managers in leading small teams consisting of various engineering disciplines and other project support personnel
Responsible for maintaining appropriate project documentation in the proper locations
Support management of client's project expectations and requirements under the direction of a Project Manager
Develop understanding of critical path analysis, with guidance from senior project staff
Develops understanding of project financial issues
Assist with project reporting including resource utilization and project profitability
Support tracking of project costs, schedules, performance and safety on assigned tasks
Assist with routine client communications, escalating complex issues to a Project Manager
Track and help deliver project metrics
Report into Project Managers and senior management
Support delivery of small to mid-size, single- or limited multi-disciplinary projects
Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices
Assist in preparation of proposals including scope definition, schedule development and budget estimates
Provide marketing support and assistance
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Construction, or Civil Engineering and three to five years of relevant working experience with working knowledge in mechanical engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Three to five years of experience in project management/execution with an understanding of standard project management processes/procedures
PMP certification preferred, or willingness to pursue certification
Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy
Ability to manage small to mid-size projects, or components of larger projects
Developing proficiency in executing fast tracked projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to meet project deadlines
Developing scope management and client management skills
Engineering consulting firm experience preferred
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, while being capable of interacting effectively with plant operations from the maintenance level through the management level
Track record of accomplishments as a project engineer, assistant project manager, or lead engineer on industrial projects; developing capability to help direct a team of engineers, contractors, and vendors
Working knowledge of excel including macros
Self-starter with strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously at various stages of completion
Developing ability to support business development opportunities
Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project required
Preferred Certifications and skills:
Experience in working with food manufacturing, life sciences, bioprocess and/or petrochemical companies, construction of large industrial plants, or power stations will be advantageous
Working Conditions:
Office, plant, or client site environment*
Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
Travel and/or field experience required
*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
