Who You Are
The Computational Genetics team at BridgeBio plays a central role in establishing new drug development programs and supporting ongoing programs. The team is searching for a human geneticist to identify and validate therapeutic targets, understand the unmet need for various diseases, and, more generally, take a data-centric approach to drive drug development. You will apply your statistical/human genetics foundation to understand human genetic and clinical data from large biobanks and other databases in this role. Your strong biological intuition will guide you toward the right questions to ask and an appropriate analysis plan and help you communicate the results in a relevant and actionable way. To develop high-quality answers, you will be encouraged to be fearless and follow your nose to areas outside your immediate expertise. You will collaborate with a talented team of drug developers, including computational biologists, data engineers, clinicians, and bench scientists. Your insights will be shared with key external stakeholders and senior leadership and will ultimately guide the drug development efforts at BridgeBio. Finally, you will communicate relevant and novel findings to the broader scientific community through publication in scientific journals and presentations at external conferences.
Responsibilities
Apply biological and human genetics knowledge and intuition to identify essential and addressable questions/hypotheses to inform drug discovery and development
Design and implement analyses to produce interpretable, actionable results
Discuss project motivation, plan, and impacts with teammates, key external stakeholders, and senior leadership
Lead individual projects and collaborate with a diverse and talented team of drug developers
Stay at the leading edge of the field of human genetics, including new statistical methods, datasets, etc., and be able to discuss these new developments with both experts and non-experts
Attend and present at internal and external meetings; publish work in scientific journals
No matter your role at BridgeBio, successful team members are:
Patient Champions, who put patients first and uphold strict ethical standards
Entrepreneurial Operators, who drive toward practical solutions and have an ownership mindset
Truth Seekers, who are detailed, rational, and humble problem solvers
Individuals Who Inspire Excellence in themselves and those around them
High-quality executors, who execute against goals and milestones with quality, precision, and speed
Job Requirements :

Ph.D. in Human Genetics, Statistical Genetics, or related discipline with 0-2 years of industry or postdoctoral experience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in conveying analysis results to both experts and non-experts in the field
Extensive experience with Python and/or R with specific experience analyzing human genetics data (e.g., performing and interpreting GWASes/PheWASes, rare variant association tests, burden analyses, interpreting variant function and pathogenicity, etc.)
Experience in analyzing data from gnomAD, UK Biobank, All of Us, or similar cohorts
A strong history of completed scientific projects as evidenced by publications and presentations at conferences
A self-starter who loves to learn and will bring great energy to work each day
A passion for helping patients
How to Apply :

Founded in 2015, the company has built a portfolio of 20+ drug development programs ranging from preclinical to late-stage development in multiple therapeutic areas including genetic dermatology, precision oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonology, and renal disease, with two approved drugs.

Our focus on scientific excellence and rapid execution aim to translate today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s medicines. We have U.S. offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Raleigh, with small satellites in other parts of the country.
