Entry Level - $25.00/$34.13 (entry level scientist has - 3 years of experience)
Intermediate - $28.00/$38.22 (intermediate level scientist has between 3 and 7 years of experience)

Job Title: Associate Scientist (ESO)
Location: 6021 Tireman, Detroit, MI
Experience: 3 7 Years
Education: Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical engineering or equivalent.

Job Summary:
Prepares samples for analysis, records data, and performs routine tests and studies. Prepares
reagents and standards for chemical analyses and conducts routine environmental testing. This may
include various wet chemistry techniques such as extractions, dilutions, hot plate and microwave
digestions, and pipetting
, along with the preparation and cleaning of glassware and work areas. Typical
assignments are in the form of problem-solving and technical support for the optimum operation and
maintenance of company assets. Performs a variety of technical work requiring the application of
scientific principles, techniques, and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:
Performs calibration of laboratory equipment.
Follows standard work instructions for technical tasks.
Prepares samples for analysis.
Actively participates in process improvement and safety efforts.
Uses Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMs) for sample login and data entry.
Maintains accurate and complete lab data notebook, and communicates precise and accurate results of
analyses by prescribed lab procedures and systems.
Performs monitoring and testing of system performance by data collection or laboratory testing.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree. Individuals who will be obtaining their degree within nine months of submitting interest will be considered; however, verification of the degree will be required before starting the job.

Other Qualifications
Preferred:
  • Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent.
  • Applied knowledge or experience with instrumentation or analyses such as ICP, GC, GC/MS, FT-IR, UVVis, Spectroscopy, Karl Fischer, TGA, XRF, BTU, Proximate, LECO, Calorimetry, lubrication and oil testing, viscosity, Flash Point, and other wet chemistry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of labs LIMs system.
Other Requirements:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Outlook)
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and able to prioritize the importance of a sample
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and laboratory operations
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company
Detail-oriented individual
Compliant in both safe and environmental work practices
