Position Summary


The Associate Territory Manager is responsible for providing field-based support to physicians and other clinical professionals in the use of a surgical medical device portfolio. Working closely with field sales and marketing, this individual will provide procedural case coverage, professional education, in-service training, demonstrations, evaluations, and general account support to help the regional team achieve its annual sales objectives.


This position requires extensive travel and extended stays throughout an assigned region. The Associate Territory Manager will build lasting customer relationships and support the safe and effective use of the organization’s technologies. Customers may include physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators, office personnel, sales professionals, and other hospital staff.


This is a developmental role designed to build clinical expertise, territory management capabilities, and selling skills. Successful individuals may advance into a Territory Manager position and must be willing to relocate anywhere in the United States for an available territory.


Key Responsibilities




  • Complete formal sales and clinical training to develop a thorough understanding of the assigned surgical medical device portfolio.




  • Support the regional sales team by covering accounts and clinical procedures and by conducting in-service training, product evaluations, and demonstrations.




  • Partner with territory and regional sales leaders to plan and prioritize customer activity, manage time effectively, and communicate significant account developments.




  • Build and maintain productive, sustainable relationships with clinicians, hospital personnel, distributors, sales representatives, and other healthcare professionals who influence purchasing decisions.




  • Apply effective sales strategies, processes, and territory management practices to support revenue growth.




  • Analyze territory performance, identify opportunities, and develop action plans to improve results.




  • Monitor competitive activity, market trends, changing customer needs, and competitor strategies.




  • Maintain accurate and current account records, manage the sales funnel, and complete required administrative work on time.




  • Communicate applicable pricing, availability updates, and organizational policies to customers.




  • Support regional marketing programs, professional education events, conventions, trade shows, seminars, advisory boards, and sales meetings.




  • Assist with marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, and new technology introductions.




  • Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve clinical, commercial, and customer service objectives.




  • Develop a high level of clinical knowledge relevant to the assigned portfolio and remain informed about industry, business, and technology trends.




  • Maintain open and productive communication with sales colleagues, leadership, customer service, and internal partners.




  • Manage expenses and organizational resources within established policies and budgets.




  • Maintain any company-provided vehicle in clean, orderly, and serviceable condition.




  • Demonstrate a consistent commitment to patient safety, quality, ethical conduct, and all documented compliance requirements.




  • Report customer complaints in accordance with established procedures.




  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s degree required.




  • Minimum of two years of sales experience.




  • Comfortable working in an operating room environment, observing surgical procedures, and standing for extended periods.




  • Ability to accommodate early-morning cases, extended procedural hours, and changing schedules.




  • Demonstrated leadership, persuasion, and influencing skills.




  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.




  • Ability to analyze data and present findings that support business decisions.




  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with physicians, administrators, clinicians, and personnel at all organizational levels.




  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.




  • Self-motivated and able to take on additional responsibilities with minimal direction.




  • Sound judgment and consistently professional behavior.




  • Ability to establish and sustain productive relationships with hospital personnel, field sales teams, and internal colleagues.




  • Ability to present information and respond effectively to questions from healthcare professionals, executives, managers, clients, and customers.




  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.




  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including multiple overnight stays.




  • Flexibility to support open territories throughout the region as business needs require, which may involve additional travel.




  • Willingness to relocate for future Territory Manager opportunities.




  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.




  • Ability to satisfy applicable background-screening requirements.




  • Ability to meet customer and healthcare-facility access requirements, which may include drug screening and other health or safety requirements.




  • Ability to maintain required vendor credentials.




  • Must reside within the assigned region.

Compensation and Benefits


The anticipated base salary range for this opportunity is $72,000 annually + bonus, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on the role’s requirements and the selected candidate’s experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and applicable employment laws.


Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Candidates should already reside within the assigned region.
