Job Description - Assurance Services Senior Associate I (Senior Auditor)

Job Summary:

Our firm works with clients in a number of industries and has a rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality division that serves clients nationwide. We are looking for an in-person only Assurance Services Senior Associate I (Senior Auditor) in the Topeka or Overland Park office. Full-time availability is needed, around 2250 hours per year. After initial training of approximately 3 - 6 months, a hybrid-remote work schedule can be discussed.

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have experience making decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and auditing matters. When such problems arise, outline issues for the Manager or Partner, including a recommendation, and then executes decision. This role may supervise new Associates, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and directs necessary revisions. They are expected to develop and manage time budgets on jobs previously handled and ensure that Associates employ methods that will accomplish objectives timely. The Senior Associate I is an in-office position based in the Overland Park or Topeka office and can be performed remotely after training is completed, approximately 3 - 6 months after hire date.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the general direction of Manager or Partner.
  • Prepares the engagement letter and any subsequent modifications for approval by a Partner, responds to and resolves client questions and concerns and ensures a complete understanding of the nature and terms of an assignment, including an estimate of fees.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Manages workload to ensure client deadlines are met.
  • Participates in planning material and content for client engagements.
  • Directs and instructs assistants, where applicable, in work to be performed and working paper review.
  • Manages the preparation, approval, and submission of client financial reports according to the client's instructions.
  • Prepares other reports, projects, and duties as may be assigned.
  • Supervises Associates.
  • Develops skills necessary to ensure quality client relationships and loyalty.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to meet deadlines for work assigned.
  • Occasional same day or overnight travel for work at client’s offices, meetings, and seminars.

Required Qualifications:

  • In-office work during training, due to the interaction necessary between audit team and trainer/manager. Amount of time required will vary based on the individual's experience and abilities.
  • Individuals at this level normally have a master's degree with major in Accounting, or other related business field, or equivalent accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in public external audit.
  • CPA licensed.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management and team management skills.
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service.
