Job Description - Astronaut Rescue Communications Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
Alluvionic is seeking a skilled Astronaut Rescue Communications Operations Specialist to support world-wide astronaut rescue operations for NASA's Artemis program and other contingency missions. This role encompasses planning, training, and execution of communications strategies for land and water recovery operations, including the retrieval of crew modules and support for Soyuz landings.

Clearance Required:  Yes – Secret Clearance
*This is an onsite position.*


Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document short- and long-term communication plans for recovery operations, ensuring integrated and interoperable voice communication between recovery ships, crew modules, and survival radios.
  • Attend information assurance officer and cyber liaison meetings to support mission communications security.
  • Assist with hardware inventory, upgrades, and help desk ticket management for communication systems.
  • Maintain and optimize communication applications such as SharePoint and Teams.
  • Serve as the COMSEC equipment custodian, ensuring proper management of communication security equipment.
  • Coordinate and schedule communication linkages with the Eastern Range and mission partner communication nodes, enhancing line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communication capabilities.
  • Identify and document communication equipment shortfalls and recommend improvements to tactics, techniques, and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Currently qualified as a DoD Cyber Security Liaison (formerly Information Assurance Officer) and Computer Support Administrator.
  • Previous experience working line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications. portable, aviation (fixed- and rotary-wing), and naval line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications systems
  • A strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This includes the ability to prepare and present briefings, papers, and presentations to senior leaders in the military and interagency. An ability to interact with military, contractors, and interagency personnel to build teams and maintain good working relationships.
  • The ability to work independently to plan and complete assignments on time. The products are thorough, logical, meet objectives, and are grammatically correct.
  • The ability to analyze complex problems and develop and articulate recommended plans and objectives that lead to resolution within existing policy or instruction guidance.
  • The ability to understand and articulate orally and in writing the consequences (intended and unintended) in advance of actions or decisions.
  • The ability to conceptualize, develop, and present mission-specific training or orientation courses for military personnel.
  • The ability to produce high quality products and provide high quality recommendations that are consistent with a fiscally constrained mission environment.
