Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities.
Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.
Job Summary
Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School seeks a passionate, mission-driven professional who will serve as the Athletics Director. Reporting to the Head of School and Head of Operations, the Athletics Director will be responsible for providing exemplary leadership in the implementation of the goals of Catholic education. The Athletics Director assists the administration in the development of an athletic program, for grades PK3-12, to promote student health, athletic skill, and safety. Qualified candidates will be driven and inspired by the mission of Catholic schools and of Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School.
This position may be combined with other teaching/coaching opportunities at the school.

Essential Duties
• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Provides leadership, oversight, and management of all aspects of athletic programs.
• Inspires and cultivates leadership in others.
• Able to cultivate a culture of leadership and accountability.
• Abie to effectively resolve conflict.
• Actively promotes the formation of students and leadership development through the school's athletic programs.
• Fosters positive relationships with Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), TAPPS schools, athletic directors
and abides by the rules and regulations established by TAPPS.
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all school matters.
• Provides for the safety and well-being of student athletes by implementing safety guidelines and training of coaches and
students.
• Maintains, updates, and distributes athlete and coach handbooks annually.
• Implements annual parent information and coach training sessions.
• Ensures that all athletes have completed annual physicals, release/hold harmless forms, and registration prior to participation.
• Ensures that all coaches are compliant with EIM guidelines for the Diocese.
• Ensures the school’s compliance with league regulations and attends required meetings.
• Maintains athletic inventory and coordinates the ordering process for new equipment and uniforms.
• Maintains the school’s athletic calendar in coordination with the Director of Communication.
• Attends and supervises all on-campus athletic competitions and ensures supervision of all off-campus events. Coordinates
supervision when not on campus.
• In conjunction with the Head of School and Head of Operations, supervises, hires, and evaluates all coaches formally and
informally.
• Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy.
• Communicates efficiently regarding registration, team assignments, schedules, and participation requirements.
• Communicates with administration/faculty regarding need for early dismissals, field, and gym use.
• Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administration.
• Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
• Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff.
• Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support program planning.
• Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner.
• Serves as a liaison to the Parents Association (BRPA) and advises regarding their activities, rules, and regulations.
• Keeps abreast of current athletic and safety information through membership in relevant associations.
• Participates in school-wide activities, including liturgical or prayer services.

• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Knowledge of the physical fitness and skill levels of adolescent physical development.
• Knowledge of coaching techniques and rules of sports.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Sports Management or related field.
• MA Degree preferred.
Experience:
• Administration experience in education, coaching, or related field.
Certifications and Training:
• Current CPR/AED certification and first aid training.
• Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate
in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and
maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
• Must complete Missionary Discipleship for Catholic Schools (Level 1) within two years of the date of hire, completing a
minimum of 25 hours each year.
