Caprock Academy is seeking a Athletics and Activities Director. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, the Athletics and Activities Director will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values of character, accountability and academics.
Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades K–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. The Athletics and Activities Director shall report to and is accountable to the Head of School. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, they will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values always.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time
WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week
PAY RANGE: Hiring Salary Range $50,000-$65,000 depending on experience and education
REPORTS TO: Head of School
Essential Duties:
- Serve as a part of the leadership team in leading the school community in achieving the mission of the school, with a focus on activities and athletics
- Promote and model productive communications and teamwork among school staff and parents
- Communicate with parents about specific student concerns;
- Assist in the development and oversight with the implementation of activity and athletic programs
- Create a professional training and program development for CA – training, philosophy, goals, and purpose as well as handbooks for each sport
- Pay official scheduler, WSL dues, CHSSA dues, arbiter ref and officials scheduling
- Publish gym rules, open gym info, admin policies – updates, communication, and monitoring
- Create, communicate, and publish fall, winter, and spring schedules
- Read CHSSA documents, bylaws, and bulletins as well attending CLOC committee, CADA WSL meetings, All School Summit (August) and Legislative Council inputs, turn eligibility into CHSSA, submit transfer students for approval, update CHSSA logins and titles; RPI
- Oversee, manage, and coordinate teams, games, practices, coaches and schedules for HS/ MS sports, HS/MS schedules, rules, etc. communicated, monitored, MS AD communications
- Manage facility needs and conflicts monitored; awards ceremonies – MS and HS – all sports/seasons; issue uniforms and returns, tracking, management, replacement; All conference medals and Champions Plaque - VB, BB, Track & Soccer
- Keep Max Preps updated on all sports, rosters, and results; organize physicals; Monitor quarters played - coach oversight; organize/arrange for students to attend camps
- Oversee and manage vehicles usage and needs as well as travel arrangements, meals, permissions, logistics, communications; set-up for games and student/parents volunteer management and scheduling
- Work to book dates, monthly tasks; update forms and due dates; develop Charter School AD connections; create programs and develop advertising to help support programs
- Other duties as assigned
With the Head of School, the Athletics and Activities Director will:
- Assist faculty in evaluating eligibility of student participation in athletics and activities.
- Evaluate and promote a culture focused on student achievement as a student athlete.
- Oversee and approve school clubs and activities as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Sports Management, or education-related field
- Experience in management and supervision
- Experience in program development
- Experience in implementing and managing an activities and athletics programs
- Experience in working with students of varying ages, skill levels, and circumstances
- A consensus-building, participatory management style
- Professional and personal integrity
- Appreciation of cultural and ethnic diversity
- Strong team leadership and ability to delegate
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational skills
