Responsible for developing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating aquatics and athletics programs, leagues, classes, and special events. Oversees daily program operations, ensures participant safety, supervises staff and instructors, and assists with marketing and promotional efforts for aquatics and athletics programs.
Pay Range: $22.13 - $24.95 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Plan, coordinate, and oversee aquatics and athletics programs on a day-to-day basis, including swim lessons, aquatic fitness, leagues, clinics, camps, and instructional programs.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, complete payroll, and evaluate program staff.
Oversee daily operational needs of aquatics and athletics facilities, including program registration, facility use agreements, and field reservations as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, rules, and procedures for aquatics and athletics activities; respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
Teach, coach, officiate, or assist with instruction for aquatics and athletics programs as needed, based on community needs and staff availability.
Plan and execute aquatics and athletics special events, tournaments, meets, and competitions.
Attend monthly Special Events meeting as liaison for Aquatics/Athletics division.
Prepare and distribute promotional materials to market aquatics and athletics programs, including flyers, schedules, brochures, digital content, photography, and graphics.
Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints; resolve difficult situations professionally and ensure timely follow-up.
Maintain program records, participation data, and reports; evaluate programs and recommend improvements based on participation trends and community feedback.
Evenings, weekends, and holiday hours are required based on program and facility needs.
Bachelor’s degree
One (1) year of related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Management, Aquatics Management, or related field
Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in aquatics and/or athletics programming, including staff supervision
Knowledge of pool operations, aquatic safety standards, and/or athletic league administration
Knowledge of basic marketing methods and promotional strategies
Knowledge of basic financial and cash-handling procedures
Proficiency with computer software, including MS Office and recreation registration/reservation systems
Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate recreation programs
Ability to supervise, motivate, and train staff
Ability to enforce facility rules and safety regulations consistently and fairly
Ability to assess community needs and develop appropriate aquatics and athletics programming
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License
Jeff Eliis, Swim Instructor or equivalent
CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within six (6) months of hire
City of Garland Defensive Driving Certification within six (6) months of hire
Completion of FEMA 100, 200, and 700
Lifeguard Certification
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO)
Coaching or officiating certifications relevant to assigned sports
